Robert Dixon

Bob has extensive, on-the-ground global market leadership experience growing businesses both organically and through acquisitions in Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the US, and has developed a deep understanding of how cultural complexities impact business results.  He has developed innovative, high impact global and regional strategies for multi-billion dollar organizations – and invested in the operational structure and people development required to successfully implement those strategies.  Important to his success are his strong operational skills and his financial acumen.  Also critical are his strategic and tactical leadership abilities orchestrating over 75 M&A deals ranging from $1MM to $1B+.  In his leadership roles, he has had extensive investor interaction and has acquired diverse Board experience with a NYSE traded public company, two private equity owned companies and several corporate (non-controlled) subsidiaries and non-profits.

Until June 2016, Bob was the Chairman of the Board and CEO at Natural Systems Utilities, LLC, a distributed infrastructure development company specializing in wastewater treatment, water reuse and organics reclamation. During his tenure, Bob significantly upgraded the company’s leadership and execution capabilities and led a strategic repositioning of NSU to focus on the exciting water reuse arena in which it completed an acquisition in the strategic northern California market and now operates over 210 such facilities across the US.

Previously, Bob was the CEO and Board Director at AquaVenture Holdings (& Seven Seas Water Corporation), a company that designs, builds, owns and operates water and wastewater treatment plants throughout the world. In his year with the company, he defined the company’s global strategy, built a world class team and positioned sales to increase by 40% and EBITDA to double in 2014. He also led the development of a robust opportunity pipeline and developed two international joint ventures in key markets ensuring a solid path for global expansion. He exited the business after successfully positioning the company’s merger with Quench; thus, greatly accelerating the successful IPO on the NYSE for the two capital-intensive, water industry businesses with highly complementary portfolio characteristics.

Until 2012, Bob was Senior Vice President & General Manager at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a global $10B company serving energy, electronics, chemicals, steel and manufacturing customers.  As a member of the Executive Committee, he ensured that the company had a clear and actionable strategy, and achieved key safety, profit, growth, sustainability and people development objectives.  Additionally, he led the $4B global Merchant Gases segment, the largest segment of the company which operated in over 40 countries with hundreds of facilities and a trucking fleet that covered enough miles to circle the earth 17 times per day. He also managed all key JV’s around the world (>$2B in sales) – totaling over $6B of responsibility.  He directed the division to record sales, margin, income and return on investment results. He also led the deployment of SAP in over 10 countries. In his prior role, Bob was President, Air Products Asia, Inc., based in Singapore – a $2B business with direct positions in China, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, and significant JV relationships in India and Thailand.  Here, he built significant operational capabilities, developed an “Asia Vision”, created/implemented a company-wide China strategy, and drove strong growth/profitability. Bob’s two children graduated from high school in Singapore. Earlier in his 28 year career at Air Products, he held several general management and financial roles with steadily increasing scope and scale.

Bob has gained significant Board experience during his career. He currently serves on board of Generac Holdings Inc. (NYSE: GNRC), a leading designer and manufacturer of generators and other engine powered products, where he is chairman of the Nominating & Governance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee.  Previously, he was Chairman of the Board at NSU and was also served on the Seven Seas Water board. While at Air Products, he was on five Boards of non-controlled JV companies in Mexico, Thailand, Italy, South Africa and India. Bob is also the former Chairman of San Fu Chemical in Taiwan and former Director of Sitt Tatt Industrial Gases in Malaysia.  Other prior Association Board roles include IOMA (International Oxygen Manufacturers Association), where he chaired the critical global industry safety and regulatory compliance committee comprised of all of the key safety leaders from throughout the industry. He was also on the board of the National Association of Manufacturers.

Bob received his Master of Business Administration from The Pennsylvania State University; his B.S. in Business Administration from Miami University, Ohio; and completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
