Da Vinci Science Center

Type of Position: Internship

The Da Vinci Science Center (DSC) offers experiential learning opportunities that provide practical, resume-building experience and a chance to make a real impact on a spirited, growing nonprofit organization by contributing professional-level work. The Da Vinci Science Center also is able to help students earn credit from their colleges and universities. EOE

Education Internship Position 1

This position will align twenty current Da Vinci Science Center school workshop programs with Next Generation Science Standards. This position will learn Next Generation Science Standards and provide written documentation of Science Standards for each workshop program. This learning experience will also include development of two new hour-long school workshop programs, one for grades 3-5 and one for grades 6-8. The general topics of these programs are Earth and Environmental Science, with specific topics to be determined. Intern must attend inquiry training sessions (maximum of 3) and observe hands-on programs. EOE

Education Internship Position 2

Two Positions Available: This position will align current Da Vinci Science Center Outreach Programs with Next Generation Science Standards. This position will learn Next Generation Science Standards and provide written documentation of Science Standards for each outreach program assigned. This learning experience will also include development of two new five hour-long after-school programs, for grades 6-8. The general topics of these programs are Earth and Environmental Science and Science Fair with specific topics to be determined. Intern must attend inquiry training sessions (maximum of 3) and observe hands-on programs. EOE

Internship Details

  • Interns must be active college students; juniors and seniors preferred
  • Preferred Majors: Education and science-related majors
  • Interns should be passionate about informal science education and enjoy working in a high-energy team environment
  • Interns should have creative minds, positive attitudes, and senses of humor
  • Internships include on-site work and the potential for off-site work
  • Hours of work are flexible, with a maximum of 28 hours per week
  • Each intern must hold a valid driver’s license and complete background checks
  • Spring Session: Jan. 2-May 15; Application Deadline: Nov. 21
  • Summer Session: May 16-Aug. 31; Application Deadline: April 30
  • Fall Session: Sept. 1-Dec. 15; Application Deadline: July 10
  • Multiple-session and full-year internships may be available upon successful completion of one internship session
