DSC Visitors Explore Ends of the Earth with Polar Adventures

December 3, 2012

ALLENTOWN, Pa., December 3, 2012 – Da Vinci Science Center (DSC) visitors will explore the ends of the Earth this holiday season as the Center hosts eight days of Polar Science Adventures.

Polar Science Adventures will include two rooms of new activities for all ages and a series of stage shows featuring guests from Arctic Paws Dog Sled Tours, Pocono Manor, Pa.; Lehigh Valley Zoo, Schnecksville, Pa.; and the New Jersey Academy for Aquatic Sciences, Camden, N.J. The programs and activities will give visitors a deeper understanding of how different daily life is in polar regions and how wildlife can survive and thrive in those climates.

Polar Science Adventures will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22-Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, and from Wednesday, Dec. 26-Monday, Dec. 31, 2012. Activity rooms will be open on the weekdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and on the Sundays from 12-4 p.m. A stage show schedule is available on the web at www.davincisciencecenter.org/winterholidays.

All Polar Science Adventures will be included for visitors with regular Da Vinci Science Center admission. Polar Science visitors and program participants can enter to win Coca-Cola polar bear figures from Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley. Polar Science Adventures are supported in part by the Follett Corporation, Easton, Pa.

The Da Vinci Science Center is extending its annual slate of winter holiday activities to compliment its showing of the world-famous Bodies Revealed exhibition, presented locally by St. Luke’s University Health Network as part of the Center’s Year of the Human Body project. Bodies Revealed helped the Center increase its visitor participation by more than double during the recent four-day Thanksgiving weekend.

Bodies Revealed is a production of Premier Exhibitions of Atlanta, Ga., and is available with regular admission and a $10.00 exhibition charge. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.davincisciencecenter.org/tickets.

The Da Vinci Science Center will be open on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. The Center will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, in observance of the Christmas holiday and will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in observance of New Year’s Day.
