The Da Vinci Science Center’s Quakes and Shakes Seismometer measures strong seismic activity around the world and broadcasts live to its exhibit floor and website. The image updates every 60 seconds. How a Seismometer Works (.pdf)

- - The Da Vinci Science Center confirms its readings of earthquakes by comparing its data with U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) real-time data. 

- The seismometer was funded by a grant from the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS).
