Our Facts

The Da Vinci Science Center (DSC) is a national award-winning science center that has connected science to life and lives to science since 1992. Da Vinci Science Center experiences and partnerships make science fun and approachable – thereby connecting people of all ages and backgrounds with the wonders of science throughout their lives, their enjoyment for discovery, and their creative curiosities. Center experiences also introduce young people to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers and bring attention to companies that impact lives and communities in eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey and around the world.

The Da Vinci Science Center also highlights science’s connections with areas of public interest, especially the arts, and promotes curiosity, creativity, and qualities of greatness embodied by Leonardo da Vinci and transformative men and women who have succeeded him – as adapted for 21st century life. An independent nonprofit organization with IRS 501(c)(3) status, the Da Vinci Science Center engages more than 120,000 participants annually in exhibit floor visits, guest experiences, and programs and has more than 1,600 membership households.

Our Center is located in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, approximately 65 miles north of Philadelphia, Pa., and 90 miles south of New York, N.Y. Our 16-county primary service area is home to more than 4.9 million people.

Our Economic Impact

The Da Vinci Science Center’s economic impact in the long-term is immeasurable inasmuch as its work is dedicated primarily to the inspiration of future scientists and professionals and the development of a scientific and technical workforce.

The Da Vinci Science Center has earned more than $3 million since 2006 in grants from corporations and federal government agencies outside the Lehigh Valley region – including the MetLife Foundation, Motorola, the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS), and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
