The Da Vinci Science Center and the Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) are working with the Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board (LVWIB) and the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute (LCTI) to bring a national manufacturing movement to Pennsylvania.
The site at dreamitdoitpa.com will introduce manufacturing career opportunities and resources to students in grades K-8, their families, and educators. The site also shows manufacturers how they can help develop their future workforce in Pennsylvania. Site content will be expanded in the months following its launch.
Dream It. Do It. is a national grassroots movements by The Manufacturing Institute in Washington, D.C. Its purpose is to give community groups access to a national platform that promotes manufacturing careers. Groups in 21 American states have joined the campaign.
Creation of the Dream It. Do It. Pennsylvania site is part of the MRC-led Lehigh Valley Skill Up workforce development project. The one-year Skill Up project is funded by a $298,500 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), and partners are working to extend the project. The website is being developed by 401! Creative of Allentown, Pa., a division of Weidenhammer Systems Corporation.
The Da Vinci Science Center is leading the creation of the Dream It. Do It. Pennsylvania site in partnership with the MRC, LCTI, and LVWIB. The Center also is partnering on a Skill Up video contest for eighth grader students and is working to integrate additional manufacturing career content into its existing programs.
