The Da Vinci Science Center has called for nominations for its 2017 Educator Excellence Awards.
In response to feedback from award winners and selection committee members, award criteria have been clarified; opportunities have been extended for colleagues, parents, and administrators to nominate educators; and two new award categories have been developed for 2017.
Along with the traditional Educator Excellence Awards – which honors teachers who provide the best possible STEM education to their students every day – the Center will offer a New Educator Excellence Award for promising newer teachers and a STEM Leadership Award for teachers who demonstrate leadership in their school or district to improve education in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The Educator Excellence Awards are among the Da Vinci Science Center Hall of Fame Awards that the Center has bestowed annually since 1999 to educators, high school students, professionals, companies, and community leaders who bring science to life and bring lives to science in eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey.
Nominations must be submitted by March 6, 2017. Details and the nomination form are available on the web at davincisciencecenter.org/halloffame.
All 2017 Hall of Fame Award winners will be honored at the 2017 Da Vinci Science Center Gala on Saturday, April 22, at the Renaissance Allentown Hotel.
