Viewers Choice voting for Dream It. Do It. PA’s third annual Lehigh Valley Student Video Contest – titled What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? – will be held from Feb. 17-19, 2016, on the web at DreamItDoItPA.com.
The contest matches teams of middle school students with manufacturing companies and challenges the student teams to produce short videos about the companies and the careers they offer. The Dream It. Do It. PA partnership – of which the Da Vinci Science Center is a founding member – has seen its contest format adopted by groups across Pennsylvania and in five additional American states. The Dream It. Do It. PA website is hosting Viewers Choice Voting for Pennsylvania contests in Chester County and the Pittsburgh region along with first Dream It. Do It. Tennessee contest.
The 2016 Lehigh Valley contest features its largest field to date with 30 teams from 25 school districts in Lehigh, Northampton, Schuylkill, and Carbon counties. The Viewers Choice Award will be one of the awards given during the contest’s celebration Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. Additional awards will be bestowed by a panel of professional contest judges.
Directed by the Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) in Allentown, Pa., the Dream It. Do It. PA partnership is dedicated to changing perceptions and attitudes in the Keystone State about advanced manufacturing careers. Dream It. Do It. PA started in 2013 as an effort called Lehigh Valley Skill Up to raise awareness in the Lehigh Valley area. The popularity of the partnership’s flagship student video contests and its rights to the national Dream It. Do It. brand for Pennsylvania have enabled it to expand its reach throughout the commonwealth.
