The iconic PPL Tower Building in Allentown, Pa., was bathed in purple and yellow light Thursday night and will be through Monday, May 17, in celebration of the Da Vinci Science Center’s achievements in bringing science to life and lives to science.
The 23-story landmark is being lit with the two most prominent colors of the Da Vinci Science Center’s logo to commemorate the Center’s 2016 gala – which takes place a couple of blocks away at the Renaissance Allentown Hotel on Saturday evening. PPL Corporation is the gala’s Presenting Sponsor.
The 322-foot-tall tower can be seen from several miles away each evening, and is lit typically in the company’s signature blue color. The company changes the lighting colors occasionally to commemorate community events and milestones and presents a special light scheme during the winter holiday season.
The 2016 Da Vinci Science Center Hall of Fame Gala features a cocktail reception, dinner, silent auction, live auction, special pledge appeal, and the annual presentation of the Center’s Hall of Fame Awards. Proceeds from the Center’s flagship fundraising event support its exhibits and programs that bring science to life every day for children of all backgrounds and socioeconomic status and inspire them to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
