#MySci411: Manufacturing Day Promotes Careers with Student Tours

Manufacturing Careers
Several companies and schools in the greater Lehigh Valley area are offering students an inside look at manufacturing careers as part of Friday’s 2015 national Manufacturing Day (#MFGDay2015) event.

The companies and schools are holding special tours and open houses for middle school and high school students either on Friday or on upcoming days. The objective is to make students aware of current-day advanced manufacturing careers and the great opportunities available in that industry.

Many Manufacturing Day events in the greater Lehigh Valley area have been coordinated by the Dream It. Do It. PA partnership – which is led by the Manufacturers Resource Center in Allentown, Pa., and includes the Da Vinci Science Center.

Area companies participating in Manufacturing Day events include ATAS International, Inc. in Allentown, Pa.; B. Braun in Allentown, Pa.; Bosch Rexroth in Bethlehem, Pa.; C.F. Martin & Co. in Nazareth, Pa., manufacturer of the famous Martin Guitars; East Penn Manufacturing in Fleetwood, Pa.; Eastern Surfaces in Allentown, Pa.; Lehigh Valley Plastics in Bethlehem, Pa.; Lutron Electronics in Coopersburg, Pa.; Mack Trucks in Macungie, Pa.; Stanley Vidmar in Allentown, Pa.; and Victaulic Company in Easton, Pa. The Da Vinci Science Center also has offered to present a special Made in America workshop program for school field trip groups visiting on Friday.

The Manufacturing Day event has been held since 2012 by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA) in Rockford, Ill.
