Karen Knecht

Karen Knecht has been the Da Vinci Science Center’s Director of Education since Aug. 2010 and is a member of the Center’s Leadership Team. Knecht served previously as the Center’s Education Manager from 2000-2010 and as an educator from 1998-2000.

Knecht’s responsibilities include leading the development and delivery of the Center’s educational programs and shows for school field trip groups, outreach consumers, Scout groups, and visitors. Knecht is the founder and director of Lehigh Valley FAST – or Festival of Art, Science, and Technology. Knecht also is an instructor at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa., and DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa.

Knecht is a certified secondary Biology teacher in Pennsylvania and holds an Inquiry Learning Certificate from the Center for Informal Learning and Schools (CILS), a program administered by The Exploratorium in San Francisco, Ca.

Knecht is a graduate of the Leadership Lehigh Valley program and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Mayfair Festival of the Arts.

A native of eastern Pennsylvania, Knecht earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Secondary Education from Cedar Crest College.
