This interactive experience is modeled after a real backhoe digger, and allows visitors to see what it’s like to be a “heavy equipment” operator.
Like construction workers at a dig site, guests scoop up plastic balls using the backhoe’s bucket and dump them in another spot. They operate three different controls to position the bucket where they want.
The exhibit provides the opportunity to practice motor skills and coordination by controlling the operation of the backhoe.
Construction Corner: Dig This! is sponsored by the Schyler Kemps Foundation to honor Schyler's memory and his passion for operating heavy equipment. As a child, Schyler dreamed of operating big machines and became a backhoe operator when he grew up. This exhibit will inspire other children to dream big too.
