Background Information |
Based on the character phenomenon introduced in the 1990s, Pokémon Go uses GPS technology inside users’ smartphones to provide opportunities to capture, battle, and train virtual Pokémon that appear wherever they walk. The game also has been credited with encouraging users to walk more frequently, getting kids to go outside, and building social skills in kids who may have difficulties interacting with others. The Da Vinci Science Center’s building is classified as gym – a place where players can battle each other, train their own Pokémon characters, and capture Pokémon. The wind turbine outside the Center’s building, identified in the game as A Strong Wind, is a Pokéstop where players can stock up on resources and Pokéballs for hunting Pokémon. |
