The Facilities Manager is responsible for day-to-day safety and operations of the Science Center’s facilities and exhibits, which serve more than 110,000 people annually. The Facilities Manager is responsible for hiring, scheduling, evaluating, coaching, and training facilities technicians and housekeeper staff. The Manager is responsible for preventative maintenance, emergency maintenance, access control, HVAC control, and housekeeping, as well as planning, budgeting, and procurement for facilities needs. The Manager leads a team of two to three facilities technicians and two to three housekeeping staff. The Manager plays a leadership role on the Science Center’s Safety Committee, helping to ensure all employees receive the proper safety training and that safety related policies and procedures are followed throughout the facility. The Manager ensures that facilities staff and volunteers are aware of the Center’s customer service culture, inquiry-based approach to science teaching, and the Science Center’s values. A strong manager should have a facilities and maintenance background and a passion for providing a safe, welcoming, and fun experience for visitors, volunteers, and staff. The Manager must have excellent organizational and leadership skills.
