A program hosted by the Da Vinci Science Center’s Leonardo Society on the use of drones by PPL Corporation is now open to the public.
Matthew Green, Director of Asset Management and Strategy at PPL Corporation, will share information about the company’s use of drone aircraft to inspect power lines at the Da Vinci Science Center on Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The event is free, but interested participants are urged to provide an RSVP through the Center’s website.
PPL is permitted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to use the slow-moving pilotless aircraft to inspect power lines during routine outages. Cameras on the drones transmit images back to technicians.
The Leonardo Society, which hosts this Da Vinci Science Center event to the public, is comprised of individuals and couples who make an annual gift of at least $1,000 toward the Center’s operations. By making these contributions, society members support the Center’s mission, take an active role in its success, and secure the futures of tomorrow’s scientists and engineers.
