The Science Center will leverage these funds to expand its offerings of virtual and onsite programming to keep the public and 4,000 member households engaged in science. “Support from The Donley Fund and others helps to ensure that Da Vinci Science Center emerges from the pandemic with a fully engaged professional staff, a portfolio of new exhibits and programs, and continued progress on development of a new world-class science center in downtown Allentown,” explains Lin Erickson, Executive Director and CEO. “We are grateful for the support and investment that the fund is making in bringing science to life and lives to science for youth and families in our communities.” Science Center programming that will be fueled by this grant includes changing exhibit experiences and public programs that capture young people’s interest and keep families coming back time and again, science clubs, outreach programs, and professional development for teachers. The interactive exhibits and programs inspire kids to explore STEM subjects through creative and playful learning. The Science Center also provides on-going educational opportunities for students to develop their skills and to learn about career pathways within STEM. A priority for Da Vinci Science Center is providing access to STEM education opportunities for students who are underrepresented in STEM. The Edward and Inez Donley Fund at LVCF, established in 2018, supports organizations that promote self-sufficiency and achievement for marginalized children, individuals, and families by increasing education and literacy support.
