Ann Marie Surovy, CFRE, the Da Vinci Science Center’s Director of Development and Community Relations, has been named winner of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ (AFP) 2016 Excellence in Fundraising Management Award.
The award honors a nonprofit fundraising professional or Executive Director who demonstrates excellence in raising resources, visibility, and leadership in meeting and exceeding their organization’s goals. It will be presented at the chapter’s National Philanthropy Day Awards Breakfast at DeSales University on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Surovy has been the Da Vinci Science Center’s Director of Development and Community Relations since April 2015. Her achievements include the formal founding of the organization’s Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Network and the record-breaking 2016 Da Vinci Science Center gala – which raised more than $150,000 to support exhibits, programs, and sponsorships. Surovy also led the recruitment of sponsors for the Center’s upcoming $350,000 investment in preschool and energy conservation exhibits, the largest exhibit investment in the organization’s history.
Surovy served for nearly ten years previously as Development Director for LifePath, Inc. – a nonprofit organization with a $50 million annual budget that provides programs and services to individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities. Surovy has career experience with The Morning Call Media Group, the Great Valley Council of the Girl Scouts of America, and Lehigh Career and Technical Institute (LCTI).
Surovy is Vice President of Communications for the area AFP chapter and has served as Vice President of Marketing for the Women’s Business Council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. Surovy earned a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications from Penn State University, was recognized by the Penn State’s Lehigh Valley campus as its 2012-2013 Featured Alumnus, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the university’s Launch Box business accelerator program.
