H/Racial Conversation

Racial Conversation

Friday, March 31 ; 4:30-8:30 p.m.
at Da Vinci Science Center

Join us for a Racial Conversation with the Racial and Ethnic Justice (REJ) team of Community Action Lehigh Valley using the BODY WORLDS RX exhibit as a portal for discussion of what makes us human.

The evening will include time in the BODY WORLDS RX exhibition, which features over 30 human specimens ranging from organs to skeletal structures preserved through Plastination.

What isn’t on display are cultural, socio-economic, or racial backgrounds, which provides an ideal starting point for a guided discussion on the role of race in our society.

The REJ team will facilitate this community-based racial conversation to provide attendees the opportunity to voice their opinions, explore and express their feelings towards the culture of the Lehigh Valley, receive education, and feel empowered to make a difference.

Cost: $10 per person

Space is limited. Registration is required in advance.

Topics Include:

  • Review of US Demographic Data relating to race and ethnicity
  • Stereotypes, Implicit Bias, Equity vs. Equality
  • White Privilege
  • Macro/Micro Aggressions

Schedule of Events:

  • 4:30-5:30 p.m. Explore BODY WORLDS RX
  • 5:30-8:30 p.m. Racial Conversation

Light refreshments will be served.

Disclosure: The Racial and Ethnic Justice (REJ) team of Community Action Lehigh Valley; in partnership with the Da Vinci Science Center, does not endorse or hold any liability in connection with the Plastination process of the human cadavers used in the BODY WORLDS RX exhibit.
