Register a Team for the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest

Register a team for the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest for the 2020 Task Turn Off A Light

  • Each team must have one non-student team leader over 18 years old.
  • Each team must have a minimum of 3 and no more than 10 team members.
  • Team members must qualify for the Apprentice Level contest for ages 8-11 years old.
  • Each team gets a participation ribbon and regional winners receive a plaque.

The contest is an event where students compete with the machines they have imagined, designed and created in a fun and competitive forum. The competitions encourage STEM knowledge, skills, teamwork and out-of-the-box problem solving. Students with a variety of talents can collaborate in interdependent roles on teams, allowing every student to contribute. It provides an authentic opportunity for science writing and communicating through the storytelling aspect of the contest as well as writing about the science and engineering taking place in the machine. To compete all you need is a good imagination and a pile of junk!  Each team has a chance to win the regional contest and compete in the national contest in Indiana in April.
