View on TwitterManager, Customer Service, Bosch Rexroth
Jill Evans is the Manager of Customer Service for the Industrial Hydraulics Division of Bosch Rexroth, a global leader in Drive and Control components for a diverse range of industries. Jill recently stepped into a leadership role at Rexroth after 27 years as an engineer in Rexroth’s Plastics Machinery group where she designed and supported hydraulic systems for injection molding and blow molding machines throughout the country.
After high school in Southern California, Jill attended Cal State Northridge, majoring in Computer Science and Journalism before moving to Cal Poly Pomona, majoring in Computer Science. While at Cal Poly, she worked part time at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, working on the flight software acceptance testing for the Galileo project.
When Jill decided that a career at NASA or other space-related industries was not the career for her, she left college, got married, and moved to Northern California. It was here that she accepted a job in the accounting department of a hydraulic components distributor. It didn’t take long before she moved into the more technical side of hydraulics, moving from Market Specialist to Inside Sales and finally to Technical Coordinator. In this position, she designed and specified hydraulic circuits for a number of applications. She also served as computer expert in a time where the Personal Computer was in its infancy. She took many courses in hydraulics, one of which was a two week course with Rexroth in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. During her time in San Francisco, she served on the Board of Directors of the Northern California chapter of the International Fluid Power Society for four years and became the first person in California and the first woman in the country to become a Certified Fluid Power Specialist.
In 1989, ready for a career change, Jill and her husband moved to Pennsylvania where she accepted a position as an Inside Sales Coordinator at Rexroth, intending to go back to school to finish her bachelor’s degree. Those plans were postponed in favor of raising her daughter. In 2008 Jill went back to college. She received her AS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from LCCC in 2012, and her Bachelor’s degree from Temple University in 2016 in Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Mechatronics. In 2018, Jill led a team in Bosch’s Innovation Framework learning about entrepreneurship and developing and marketing new products.
Jill has a passion for encouraging young women and girls to pursue STEM careers and has been attending the WISE forum as one of Rexroth’s Table Sponsor Mentors for several years. She serves as a panelist for Lehigh University’s CHOICES program during the summer, and gives career presentations at Parkland High School and other venues. Jill was a charter member of the Bethlehem chapter of Women@Bosch, an employee resource group available to all employees whose mission is to Engage, Educate, and Empower associates.
Jill loves kayaking, fishing with her daughter, and spending quality time with her husband.
