The Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown hosted their debut public event for its new Fab Lab.
The Fab Lab offers 3D printers, laser cutters, machines coded to shape materials and other tools necessary to bring 2D designs to life.
For Easter, people could draw their own custom design on what will become an egg-shaped ornament.
Da Vinci will scan the drawings to then become digitized with graphic design software.
The designed is then laser engraved into pieces of wood.
“The Fab Lab was created because there’s a demand for teaching students, members of the public, people who are seeking jobs in certain jobs and industries to develop those skills and learn what technology goes into the careers in the 21st century,” said Trey Yogeshwar, Fab Lab manager.
Da Vinci also has a mobile Fab Lab that the center can take to schools and summer camps to introduce the younger generation to what can be done with modern technology.
The custom Egg-graving Fab Lab workshop will be open on Monday too.
The science center will also host an Egg Catapult activity and a few other egg-themed events as you can see here on your screen.
