Science Clubs

Make new friends. Explore your interests. Have the most fun with science.

Science clubs at Da Vinci Science Center are all about having the most fun with science!  Each meeting, participants will explore different sciences, tinker with modern technology, and build new skills that will help them navigate life in the 21st century. Science Center educators are actively involved in making sure everyone works together, practices good communication techniques, and remains focused on the day’s objective.

You and your child’s health and safety is always our first priority. Science Clubs at Da Vinci Science Center have extensive health and safety procedures and staff training in place every year. In light of COVID-19, the Da Vinci Science Center team has updated these procedures extensively, informed by current recommendations from local, state, and federal health officials, agencies and authorities, including CDC guidelines.

Prototypes created in Idea Lab have the exciting potential to grow into solutions for everyday problems. Come invent with us! Concepts focused on in this club include creativity, problem-solving, idea generation, and introduction to entrepreneurship, across eight (8) weeks of explorationIdea Lab is a prerequisite for the Patent Lab program.

Please Note:

FIRST® LEGO® League: Explore

Grades 2-4, Sundays, 2-4 p.m., Starting 10/10, $995

FIRST® is a not-for-profit organization that encourages kids to explore science and technology through collaboration with mentors and teammates. In the spirit of FIRST’s® mission and values, our programs focus on building self-confidence and STEM skills by providing kids with an inclusive and respectful environment.

FIRST® LEGO® League: Explore is designed for students in 2nd-4th grade. This program will be offered continually through the 2021-2022 season, beginning in mid-October and concluding in early April.  Each segment will build upon the prior knowledge of the students in that class.

Student teams will investigate real-world challenges and learn about how scientists are tackling them. After exploring the many ways science can be used to solve these problems, students build and program a motorized LEGO® model using the LEGO® WeDo 2.0 to present their findings. This year’s theme asks students to reimagine our global transportation system and the transporting, sorting, and delivering of cargo across the world! For an introduction to the ideas driving this season of FIRST® LEGO® League, please see this video: https://youtu.be/eJSDHC_9Sxk and the season teaser video: https://youtu.be/zUJ84gO1Z7g
