View on TwitterUnder the Canopy is presented by ATAS International, Inc., Lehigh County, and Reach Cyber Charter School, with support from Moravian Academy.
Under the Canopy: Animals of the Rainforest is a highly immersive exhibit experience where you and your family will discover what rainforests are, where they are in the world, how they are doing, and why they are important.
You will be introduced to 15 different species of animals that call the rainforest home. These exotic animals include various amphibians—like frogs and toads— reptiles—like lizards, tortoises, and snakes—and even some mammals—like a Two-Toed Sloth! Interact with professional educational conservationists as you get up-close and personal with some of the world’s most precious representatives of the animal kingdom.
Exhibit signage for Under the Canopy is presented in both English and Spanish.
Under the Canopy General Admission Hours:
Saturday-Sunday: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Under the Canopy Private VIP Tour Hours:
Monday-Tuesday: 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Wednesday: 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m.
Thursday-Friday: 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.
You and your family will be assigned to a professional educator who will take you, along with anyone else who has purchased tickets for the same time slot, through the exhibit. Time slots are limited to no more than 10 people. The exhibit is divided into three (3) zones: Exotic Animal Encounters in Zone 1, Animal Encounters in Zone 2, and Large Animal Habitats in Zone 3. In each zone, you will explore the exhibit, learn fun facts about the world’s rainforests, and view the animals in their habitats.
*Please note: Up-close sloth encounters are NOT included in general admission tours. You will be able to see the sloth in her enclosure, but will not be able to touch or feed her.
Enjoy a private tour of Under the Canopy with up to 7 of your friends and family! The Private VIP Tour includes everything in the General Admission package, but an educator assigned only to you and your group, with entire spaces all to yourself.
You will be introduced to 15 different species of animals that call the rainforest home. Interact with professional educational conservationists as you get up-close and personal with some of the world’s most precious representatives of the animal kingdom.
*Please note: Up-close sloth encounters are NOT included in regular Private VIP Tours. You will be able to see the sloth in her enclosure, but will not be able to touch or feed her.
The Private VIP Tour with Marquee Animal Experience includes a guided tour of the Under the Canopy exhibit for you and up to 7 of your friends and family members, as well as a private Sloth encounter wherein the educator will take the sloth and other large rainforest animals out of their enclosed habitats* for close-up photo opportunities.
The Private VIP Tour with Marquee Animal Experience also includes everything in the General Admission and Private VIP Tour packages.
We are implementing the following measures to safeguard the health and safety of staff, volunteers, and visitors:
Limited daily capacity and timed ticketing. To avoid overcrowding, visitors must reserve timed tickets online in advance of a visit. This will also provide for a contactless admission process.
Social distancing. We have made sure to spread the exhibit out over 3 zones, with plenty of extra room, allowing for a distance of at least 6 ft. between all guests, staff, and volunteers.
Face Coverings will be required for Science Center staff and volunteers as well as all guests ages 2 and older as required by Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines.
Hand Sanitizer and Hand Washing. Hand sanitizer will be made readily available for guests throughout the exhibit. In addition, we have installed automatic-touchless valves and flushers on all fixtures in the restrooms.
Under the Canopy: Animals of the Rainforest is a traveling exhibit from Little Ray’s Nature Centre. Little Ray’s is the largest exotic animal rescue in Canada and focuses on public education.
Please consider helping our community members during this difficult time. Many families are struggling to secure basic necessities. The Da Vinci Science Center is collecting the following items at our Welcome Center during Under the Canopy. Thank you for helping the families in our community when they most need it.
