
Kedryn is in her second year as head athletic trainer for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. She is currently the Vice President for the AHL Professional Athletic Trainer’s Society (PHATS) Executive Committee. She was the first female on AHL PHATS executive committee and has also served in the secretary position. She also works as a clinical preceptor for master’s in athletic training students.
Prior to joining the Phantoms, Kedryn was an assistant athletic trainer with the Rochester Americans, the Buffalo Sabres AHL affiliate, for 3 seasons. While in Rochester, Kedryn worked an NHL game with Buffalo and is believed to be the third female working behind the bench of a National Hockey League game.
Before her time as an athletic trainer in professional hockey, she was an assistant athletic trainer with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UWEC) for 2 years working primarily with the women’s volleyball, men’s ice hockey, and softball teams. She was also an athletic trainer in junior hockey with the Sioux City Musketeers in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for two seasons. Kedryn was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Minnesota State University Mankato with division 1 women’s hockey while pursuing her Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology. She began her career as an athletic trainer with UWEC covering cross country, tennis, golf, women’s hockey, and outdoor track and field.
Kedryn completed her undergraduate education at North Central College (IL), earning a Bachelor of Arts in both Athletic Training and Psychology, as well as completing the College Scholars Honors Program. She played volleyball all four years and was a thrower for the track and field team her senior year. She obtained her Master of Arts in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Minnesota State University Mankato and her Doctorate in Athletic Training (DAT) from Moravian University in 2023 while also serving as a student ambassador for the DAT program.
As a woman in STEAM working in a male-dominated professional sports environment, where I shine is bringing a different point of view, attitude and outlook towards dealing with athletes. By utilizing my individual strengths and characteristics, I can continue to push the boundaries of what is expected and shift the narrative of what it means to be a woman in STEAM.
