More than 800 middle school students from Parkland School District filled Da Vinci Science Center with energy and curiosity during our recent Career Connection Day—an immersive experience designed to open eyes to the wide world of STEM careers. As a valued District Connect Member, Parkland School District was able to host this impactful day through its partnership with the Science Center, which also provides a range of ongoing benefits to students, educators, and families—from enhanced access to hands-on learning experiences to deeper engagement with STEAM programming.
Students had the opportunity to interact directly with a wide range of local organizations and employers, including the MRC Dream Team (representatives from Mack Trucks and Lutron Electronics), as well as Lehigh Career & Technical Institute, Wildlands Conservancy, Reach Cyber Charter School, Lehigh Valley Health Network, Allentown Parks and Recreation, Lehigh University, and Lehigh County Conservation District. Through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and real-world conversations, students explored career pathways spanning engineering, healthcare, environmental science, public service, and more—gaining a deeper understanding of how their interests can translate into future opportunities.
Career Connection Day is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when education and industry come together. By creating opportunities for students to interact with professionals and experience potential career paths firsthand, Da Vinci Science Center continues to spark curiosity, build confidence, and help the next generation see themselves in STEM.
